The use of tablets and smartphones is increasing rapidly. Either the companies provide mobile devices or employees buy them themselves; some companies reimburse their employees for the acquisition cost or pay for some of the fees.
In practice, smartphones are replaced every two and tablets every three years according to a study by Experton. The reason: smartphones are more vulnerable to theft and damage. If the devices are used for less than three years, a company pays more than necessary. It gets particularly expensive when employee devices are subsidised; major customers can get significantly better conditions with their chosen suppliers. (Source: Experton Group/bs)
